As a result of their Junior Kindergarten experience, children will….

Reading

· Identify most upper and lowercase letters.

· Know sound-symbol correspondence for most letters.

· Identify colors.

· Know left from right.

· Identify most color words.

· Recognize their name in print.

· Recognize their classmate’s names in print.

· Know the beginning letter/sound of their name as well as their classmates.

· Recognize the days of the week in print.

Mathematics

· Write the numerals 1-10.

· Recognize the numerals 1-20.

· Count in sequence 0-100.

· Identify patterns

· Classify and sort objects using one out of two attributes (e.g., color, size and shape).

· Identify a circle, square, triangle, rectangle and diamond.

· Draw a circle, square and triangle.

· Add subtract simple addition/ subtraction problems using manipulative counters.

· Count to one hundred by tens.

Writing

· Write their first name using upper and lower case letters.

· Write most upper and lower case letters.

Religion

· Make the sign of the cross.

· Recite the following prayers: Morning Offering, Angel of God, The Our Father, and Grace from memory.

· Strengthen their relationship with Jesus in their daily lives.

· Have an introduction of the weekly Gospel lessons.
